Building strength + presence on & off the mat.

I created Barre & Be because I know what it’s like to be strong on the outside and disconnected from yourself on the inside. As a former Division I Track & Field athlete, movement was once about performance, discipline, and pushing through. Over time, I learned it could also be a way to listen, reconnect, regulate, and come back to myself. Barre & Be grew from that shift. I’m a certified fitness professional and former Division I athlete with years of experience teaching group fitness. My approach blends strength, barre-inspired movement, mobility, breathwork, and mindful body awareness—creating practices that challenge you while encouraging you to actually listen and connect to your body. At Barre & Be, I teach from a simple belief: strength isn’t just about what your body can do, but how connected you are to yourself while doing it. I help women build strength without abandoning themselves in the process—so they can feel stronger + more present, both on & off the mat.

Frequently asked questions

What is Barre & Be?
Barre & Be is a mind-body wellness brand that houses practices designed to help you build strength, reconnect with your body, and move through your life with greater presence. Through movement, breathwork, and stillness, we practice what supports us both on and off the mat.
What makes Barre & Be different?
Barre & Be isn’t about pushing harder, performing better, or chasing perfection. We use movement, breathwork, and stillness to help you build strength while becoming more connected to yourself. The goal isn’t just to feel stronger during a workout. It’s to practice the presence, awareness, and resilience you can carry with you on and off the mat.
Who is Barre & Be for?
Barre & Be is for women who want to feel stronger, more connected, and more present in their bodies and lives. Whether you’re returning to movement, navigating a season of change, craving a slower approach to wellness, or simply looking for practices that support the whole you, you’re welcome here. You don’t have to be the strongest, the most flexible, or have it all figured out.
How do I know Barre & Be will work for me?
You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or in a certain season of your fitness journey. You simply need a willingness to meet yourself where you are. With practices ranging from strength and mobility to breathwork, stretching, and stillness, you can choose what supports you that day. Some days you’ll MOVE. Some days you’ll BREATHE. Some days you’ll simply BE.
Do I need barre experience?
Not at all. Practices are designed to meet you where you are. You’ll be encouraged to move with control, listen to your body, and choose the variation that works for you. There’s no prize for suffering.
Is Barre & Be only barre workouts?
No. Despite the name, Barre & Be is bigger than barre. The studio includes strength-based movement, mobility, stretching, core work, breathwork, meditation, reflection, and restorative practices.
What’s the difference between MOVE, BREATHE, and BE?
MOVE builds strength, mobility, stability, and connection through intentional movement. BREATHE uses breathwork to help you pause, regulate, reset, energize, or refocus. BE creates space for meditation, reflection, stillness, and simply being present. Together, they’re the foundation of Barre & Be: Move. Breathe. Be.
What equipment do I need?
Many practices require little to no equipment. Depending on the class, you may use a mat, 3-10 lb weights, resistance bands, ankle weights or a sturdy chair for support. Each practice will tell you what you need before you begin.
How long are the practices?
You’ll find practices of different lengths, including short 5–30 minute sessions. The goal is to make presence something you can actually practice in real life, not something that requires an empty calendar.
What if I have an injury, pregnant, or have a medical issue?
Barre & Be provides general wellness and fitness education. We aren't a substitute for individualized medical care. If you’re pregnant, recovering from an injury, or managing a medical condition, consult your qualified healthcare provider before beginning or modifying an exercise practice.
Is Barre & Be just about what happens on the mat?
Nope, and that’s kind of the whole point. The mat is where we practice. Life is where we use it. The awareness, patience, strength, boundaries, breath, and presence you cultivate here are meant to follow you off the mat, too.
What if I’m not flexible or “good” at working out?
Perfect. You don’t need to perform here. Barre & Be isn’t about earning your way into the hardest variation. It’s about noticing where your body is today and building from there.
Can I use Barre & Be on rest or recovery days?
Absolutely. Choose from stretching, mobility, breathwork, meditation, and restorative practices when your body needs something gentler.
Still have a question?
We’d love to hear from you.
